Hi!

We give you the most cordial welcome to Holbox, hoping that your stay with us will be as comfortable and pleasant as possible, we want to give you a brief introduction to our house and to the Island in general, providing you with useful tips so that the days you stay with us you can enjoy them to the fullest, either doing all the activities and possible excursions or just relaxing and disconnecting from the stress of daily life.

Sargassum

Are you planning your trip to the beach and are worried about the sargassum problem in the Mexican Caribbean? Don't worry anymore and visit Holbox! Which, thanks to its geographical location, continues to offer its white sand beaches and beautiful sea so you can fully enjoy your stay on the island.

Safety

The island is very safe and its inhabitants are very decent and friendly, however with the growth of it we have received people from other parts, so to avoid any inconvenience we recommend keeping all your valuables in the security box of the property, since despite the fact that the robbery to house / room is almost null, it is better to prevent.

Walking through Holbox at any time of the day or night is very safe.

Garbage

Due to the amount of Raccoons we have on the island, please throw away the organic garbage in the morning, as early as possible, in the street container with the green mark. And the inorganic garbage, before its exit in the other container.

Mosquitoes

In Holbox mosquitoes are not all year round, only in rainy season, which is equivalent to 6 months a year, in case you are in Holbox during these months, to avoid being bitten by many mosquitoes you just have to have the wisdom of the locals on this subject, since far from being immune to the pickets because they are local, it is rather their knowledge about them.

The time of sunrise and sunset is when mosquitoes take advantage to feast and if you are outside 20 minutes before sunrise / sunset and up to an hour after this event, use repellent to enjoy your ride.

Raccoons

Raccoons are one of the most prolific species of Holbox, so it is very likely that they will be found especially at night walking the streets, around the properties and often on their roofs. There is no need to fear them but because it is a wild animal it is not recommended to try to touch them or feed them.

Lizards

Another very common species in Holbox are the kissing lizards, because of the sound they make, or gekos, these are found in all Holbox properties and it is very likely that they will find their popos in some parts of the house. This does not mean that there are mice or this dirty house, because far from being an unwanted species, they eat mosquitoes, spiders and other insects, many of their fans say they were a gift from the aliens for humanity.

Puddles

Holbox is an island where all its streets are sandy, and so we want it to be preserved, with the inconvenience that when it rains puddles form on almost every street, so if you are going to walk downtown we recommend going to the Shore of the Beach until you reach the desired place.

Internet and telephony

The internet and telephony service in Holbox are very precarious, so we usually have a very bad signal throughout the island and in the properties, there are even days when we lose this service for many hours, please understand that it is not out of our reach. If you suffer this inconvenience during your stay, please inform us and we will try to help you in the best way possible.
